We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip. Here is my story…
From the time I was 10, I can remember telling my mom that I wanted to be a missionary when I grew up. Our church is heavily involved in supporting missions and making people aware of things going on around the world. I guess I just saw how passionate people were in teaching me about missions that I wanted to be apart of it in some way. When I was in high school I began going on mission trips with my youth group. I have been to many places across the United States including Athens, Georgia and Colorado. When I was a junior in high school I had the opportunity to go to Northern Ireland on a month long mission trip. While I was there, God really showed me that I needed to work with children in some way. I had always just went on these mission trips because they were convenient and I had a strong passion for missions. From the very beginning, I always wanted to go to Africa on missions, but I never really thought that actually going to Africa was a possibility for me. When I entered college, I really started feeling God calling me to finally go to Africa. At first I was hesitant because I never thought it was the right time or I was concerned about raising money. About a year after I felt God calling me to go to Africa, I surrendered and began seriously looking at opportunities to serve God. I looked into several trips and mission organizations that my school promoted, and I finally decided on Adventures in Missions. I am not sure if God is calling me into a full time missions ministry, but I am going where He is calling me-Africa.
