Hello, everyone! My name is Katy Ellison and I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you!

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Dallas and I am currently a student at Texas Tech University. I will graduate in December with a major in Political Science. Much of my college experience has been spent trying to learn Arabic. Two years ago I was able to study abroad in Amman, Jordan. This semester was very impactful and I think I will have a lot to say about it in future posts.
I learned a lot about the suffering of others and my experience there gave me a heart for the Middle East. I learned the Lord’s purpose for me is to minister to Muslims and serve those who are less fortunate, regardless of my career.

I like to spend my free time reading, studying Arabic, or playing ping pong.  My brother and my neighbors are some of my closest friends and I like to spend as much time with them as possible. I do not own a tv but I think it is very important to follow current events and I am especially interested in international politics. I LOVE collecting and playing board games – CLUE and The Settlers of Catan are of my favorites. I do like to cook but I am horrible at it; there has even been an isolated incident of a friend throwing up the food I had prepared for her from my kitchen.

My favorite movie is “The Count of Monte Cristo”, my favorite book is Redeeming Love, and my favorite biblical passage is “The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard”.

Please let me know if you have any questions…I am ecstatic about doing the Lord’s work with you in Kenya!

Be blessed,

Katy
