Okay, team.  We are just days away.  Are you excited or what?

Lately, I've been praying more about what God is asking me to fast from for the duration of our trip.  (If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out week one of The Journey!)  I know that God is asking me to walk in true sacrifice.  Basically, I don't want to offer God something that costs me nothing.  So, as I've been asking God to reveal to me what I can give Him, He's brought these words to me.

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:

       to loose the chains of injustice

       and untie the cords of the yoke,

       to set the oppressed free

       and break every yoke?

Is it not to share your food with the hungry

       and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-

       when you see the naked, to clothe him,

       and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Then your light will break forth like the dawn,

       and your healing will quickly appear;

       then your righteousness will go before you,

       and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;

       you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

                                          ~Isaiah 58:6-9

What is God asking you to lay at His feet?  What is He calling you to surrender?  As you consider this in these next few days, remember that your sacrifice to Him has the potential to launch you into the kind of fasting that God has chosen for us: to loose the chains of injustice and to set the oppressed free.  Then, our light will break forth like the dawn and the glory of the Lord will be our rear guard.

Do your desire to join me?  Let us walk into the kind of fasting that God has called us to.

I cannot wait to join with you in this journey.
